Tony Abulu presents:

A revolutionary collaboration between Hollywood and Nollywood, Dr. Bello follows the life of brilliant cancer specialist Dr. Michael Durant (Isaiah Washington). Emotionally troubled and on bad terms with his wife (Vivica A. Fox), Dr. Durant becomes attached to Sam, a seven-year-old patient whose health deteriorates to the point that Dr. Durant seeks the support of Dr. Bello, a traditional doctor from Nigeria. What follows is a story of love, discovery of new frontiers, and a return to one’s roots.

                                                          Genre: drama
                                                 Directed by Tony Abulu
Cast: Genevieve Nnaji, Isaiah Washington, Vivica Fox, Jimmy Jean Louis, Stephanie Okereke Linus

Other casts include: Ebby Bassey, Femi Brainard, Justice Esiri, Racheal Oniga, Charles Inojie, Andrea leigh, Evan brinkman, and many more. ( peeps plenty abeg).

Isaiah washington (greys anatomy) and our own genny in one movie was enough to drive me bonkers. You re only international when you starr alongside internationals and I'm proud to say nollywood is going international. Breaking down: Actor: Genevieve nnaji: in as much she was casted alongside other internationals, I must confess that genny did no extraodinary thing. This role was not challenging but it did her reputation no harm. Was simple, made no error and delivered as we all expect her to. I give her 3 out of 5 stars Isaiah washington: could say this was his first movie of note since after Grey's anatomy, carried d role well and was a suitable lead actor. 3 out of 5 stars Jimmy Jean Louis: Dr bello himself, nothing exceptional too, played d role to the full andd did wat was expected of him. 2.8 outta 5 Apart from these 3 actors above, it could be safe to put the rest in the 'waka pass' roles and as usual, there was over acting.

 Audio:
Very clear, no fading in and out, just perfect

Video:
 Perfect, good job done
Cast:
while it was good to see the combination of our hot nollywood stars with the not so hot holly wood stars, I feel the casting director should have reduced the amount of 9ja stars in the movie. Apart from genevieve, most of them just had a waka pass role... And next time I would like to see a cast of brad pitt and genny (if wishes were horses)

 Drama:
this story is about a cure for cancer and the search for it, initially it looked that way till towards the end, it became a search for inner healing 'peace'...towards the climax, the story goes terribly wrong, it just seemed like everyone stopped acting and the quest to keep us spell bound was not achieved
Comedy:
the taxi driver was funny and charles inojie reminded us to laugh during the course of the movie
Romance:
well I was expecting something between genny and isaiah at it came at d very end, a kiss and dat was it, dunno if dats romantic sha

Memorable scene: Where genevieve asks the taxi driver to focus on the road and he refuses, he then hits the orange hawker and flees

Would I recommend it: yes I would, its an ok movie if you can remove all the hype from ur mind and look above the star studded cast. Bar the dismal end, its a nice movie

  8. My young Nigerians...very quick to yab but with very little experience and knowledge on anything. Like one American put it: "Doctor Bello' is a spiritual film. If you are looking for cinema razzle dazzle, it is NOT a film for you. But if you are in touch with your spirituality, then the film is perfect." You see I don't blame young Nigerians today, we did a very poor job in raising them. I am encouraged by some of them though who against all odds see beyond the finger pointing at the glorious heavens. Just a foot note: Have you all asked yourselves why "Doctor Bello" has been the only Nigerian film ever to be accepted for a mainstream American theatrical run? Maybe its because AMC theatres bought into the hype as well, or maybe they actually watched the film and concluded that it was worthy of a theatrical release. Some of you may want to check out the film's review in global publications such as "Psychology Today" and the "New York Times." But my best advice will be to watch the film again when you are at least 60.
